SOFTWARE & CONTENT UPDATES

Our release on May 30th was full of tons of great content and software updates! A few highlights include:
- NEW: Support for the postjudgment interest rate as published by the Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner. This monthly rate will be updated systematically in TXdocs and will be populated automatically when assembling a form that uses the rate;
- Formatting improvements to help your assembled documents appear more professional, improve readability, and reduce the need for manual edits, including:
- Consistent display of "smart" quotes and apostrophes, as recommended by modern typography guides; and
- Signature lines in estate planning documents (applies to Norris Modern Wills and Estates, Advanced Estate Planning, and Trusts) extend to the margin you have set in Format Wizard;
- 218 content-related upgrades, including many new forms in Longino Family Law, Norris Modern Probate, and Norris Modern Wills and Estates;
- NEW look of the contacts manager, making it easier and more intuitive to add and edit clients and cases. We've ensured that the selected client or case is the active client/case for each subsequently opened window;
- In Format Wizard, we added an explanation when the footer fields are not available for forms that have a built-in footer;
- Improved handling of auto-numbering in documents to ensure maximum compatibility of our forms with TXdocs Editor, Word, and WordPerfect; and
- Probate Heirship Tree improvements:
- Added a "+" icon to the Heirship Tree allowing users to add from a selected heir; and
- Improved the ability to enter approximate dates for heirs — a simple click now toggles the ability to enter an approximate date when the exact date is unknown.

TXdocs has expanded its chapter in Family Law for suits involving DFPS with the addition of new motions and orders based on forms developed by Professor Diane Sumoski, Director of the SMU Child Advocacy Clinic at the Dedman School of Law. These forms are designed to help attorneys appointed as attorney ad litem advocate more effectively for children in CPS and related proceedings. New additions include:
- Motion and Order for Second Opinion of Psychological Evaluation
- Motion and Order for Second Opinion on Propriety of Psychotropic Medication
- Motion and Order for Sibling Therapy
More forms and resources in this area of law are on the way! Our sincere thanks to Professor Sumoski for making this valuable resource available to the TXdocs community.

TIPS AND TRICKS

Is there a way to set TXdocs to automatically round up time entries?
Yes! In TXdocsPlus, the "round up timer" field is a billing feature that ensures time entries are rounded up to the nearest specified increment — such as tenths (0.1), hundredths (0.01), or quarters (0.25) of an hour.
Does TXdocs have a form to send a thank you to witnesses?
Yes! Our probate volume has a form to send a thank you letter to witnesses. Tip: these letters can be a great way to generate leads.

DID YOU KNOW?

The word "lawyer" has been around since the 14th century, originating from the Old English term "law-wright." Legal professionals have been around for centuries, advocating and advising in complex disputes long before modern law was established.
